a blog about everyday heroes from around the world
On 9 th February 2004, Leah Bianco was taking the Subway to Times Square in New York. It was very much an ordinary day like any other. Suddenly a homeless man charged at Leah and pushed her down.

Helpless Leah Bianco fell down on the tracks. She was horrified when she noticed that a train was approaching. She tried to pull herself up but could not do so. Nobody came to her help. She screamed in distress.
Randy Brown heard the scream above the blare of his head phones. He instantly sank on his knees and extended his hand to Leah. He pulled up Leah with all the force he could apply. He hauled her up to the platform. And within seconds a train roared past.
Randy Brown was the hero of the day. He had endangered his own life to save the life of Leah Bianco.
