Jeff Bassett a teenager was going to school. He was already late for his school as he was taking a different route. He was walking along Orchard Road in Briarcliff Manor, New York.

Burning House

He saw a house on fire with smoke and flames gushing out from it. The first thing Jeff did was to call 911. He also had the presence of mind to call his dad for help. It was a big coincidence that Jeff belonged to a family of fire fighters. He started searching for any persons inside the house. He found 71 year old Peter Tierney, house owner, in the garage, which was full of smoke. He told Peter to move out of the house. Chunks of the roof had already started falling down by then. This burly teenager picked up Peter and carried him out of the house. In the meanwhile his father also arrived on the scene. Thereafter it took 60 fire fighters to put the fire under control.
