But the loss of his son did not dishearten Kevin. He became a volunteer for search and rescue in the Utah Mountains. He set up a foundation in his son’s name. And sure enough he got a call from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office one day that another scout, named Brennan Hawkins, had gone missing. Brennan had tried to trek back to his camp alone and got lost.Bardsley recollected the anguish of the loss of his son. But he was determined to find the missing child. He used satellite maps and coordinated the rescue efforts. He pressed Horses and ATVs for the search. Bardsley appealed for more volunteers for rescue. Next day morning 3000 volunteers turned up. Bardsley also involved Brennan’s parents in the search. That morning a rescuer found Brennan totally exhausted and collapsed near a lake. Brennan had been rescued.Kevin Bardsley was the hero of the day for organizing this rescue.
