The “Cellist of Sarajevo”’s story- that of a cellist who witnessed the killing of 22 neighbors in a bread line and proceeded to play his cello amid sniper fire for 22 days straight- inspired Jason Crowe’s “awakening”.

Jason made a tribute to the Bosnian people in the form of a Children’s International Peace and Harmony Statue. Jason’s efforts to raise money for this statue attracted the support of many celebrity peace activists.

Jason also started a kids newspaper in 1996 and he used the newspaper to help spread information about his mission.

Iqbal Masih has had a sad life. When he was 4, his dad sold him to a carpet factory for 12 dollars. He was a slave until he managed to escape when he was 10. He was helped by Ehsan Ulla Khan, founder of the Bondage Labor Liberation Front.

In the loom, Iqbal was abused physically and verbally. At night he would be chained to a loom. He was forced to work 12 hours in a day. His constant bending curved his back and this made him stop growing. His lungs were affected as well, and he had a difficult time breathing.
After his rescue, Iqbal became a member of the Bondage Labor Liberation Front. He made speeches about the labor conditions in Pakistan. He also made international speeches, and was awarded the Reebok award when he was 12.

Sadly, Iqbal was murdered. He was shot in the head. People suspect the carpet mafia had him murdered.

Today, Iqbal’s speeches still live. He may have been murdered but his mission to end child labor lives on.

Ana Dodson was adopted when she was 3 and was raised in Colorado. Yet, a part of her still onged for her Peruvian heritage.

Her parent’s recognized this and took her back when she was 11. What she saw in her old homeland and orphanage changed Ana. There was extreme poverty everywhere, and she knew she had to do so much more than just distribute the teddy bears that she and her mother had bought for the orphans.

When she got back home, she started collecting supplies to send to the children. She also got her Spanish class involved in a Pen pal system with the girls from the orphanage.

Through so many more fundraising events, Ana established Peruvian hearts- a non-profit organization whose goal is to help orphans in Peru.

Today, Peruvian Hearts has a scholarship program that helps pay for uniforms, school fees and supplies for the girls. They even have a college scholarship. They’ve also branched out to lunch programs which feed the kids, and a library project, which sends books to Peru.

Peruvian Hearts, in its 4 years, has given over $100,000 in assistance.

That’s a lot of heart from one little person!

Chevon Parker will never forget how her dad saved her life.

Her dad and Chevon were in a truck where he was driving when it suddenly rolled on the Cunningham Highway in Queensland.

Mr. Parker, finding himself trapped, told his little girl to crawl out and call for help.

Chevron crawled out and was found by Paul Maher sitting on the embankment. Paul Maher first saw her in the light of the fire.

Now, the Maher’s have a newly adopted granddaughter.

Chevon’s mom is grateful to everyone, including her husband, who helped save Chevon’s life.
