a blog about everyday heroes from around the world
After the breakout season last year, Heroes has been on a roll casting more and more to there already stellar lineup for Season 2. The show seems to be on the path of expansion and it continued today with the addition of Nichelle Nichols a former Star Trek star among many other former Star Trek cast members. Here is what TVSquad.com had to say about the latest Heroes casting.
To boldly go where other Star Trek actors have gone before: Heroes! A few days ago, TrekMovie.com revealed that Nichelle Nichols, who played Uhura in the original Star Trek series, was cast in a recurring role on NBC’s hit show Heroes. The actress joins George Takei, Sulu from the original Trek, and Dominic Keating, Malcolm Reed from Enterprise, who are already on Heroes‘ pay roll (Keating was cast in a recurring role earlier this summer). To add to the Star Trek-Heroes links, Zachary Quinto, who plays Sylar, was cast as Spock in the upcoming movie.
TrekMovie.com also revealed that the actress would appear in five or six episodes of the series. TV Guide found out that Nichelle Nichols will play “Nana, the New Orleans-based grandmother of Monica (the new hero being played by The Nine’s Dana Davis).”

I love hearing all of these rumors “flying” around the net, and TVSquad has had a constant influx of these rumors of what is to come from the upcoming Heroes season. Here is what TVSquad is saying about the upcoming season:
“Claire’s new boyfriend can fly, and for one particular romantic getaway he picks her up and carries her to the Hollywood sign atop Mt. Lee. Also, according to our source, Claire is still very much a teenager and has been sneaking out of the house to hang out with her new fella.”
This summer has shown just an amazing onslaught of casting news for Heroes which continues with this latest article over at TVSquad which discusses a few more changes and updates to the Heroes cast.
“Weeks before Anders makes his first appearance as legendary samurai Takezo Kensei (the season premiere is supposed to explain how come a blond Caucasian man can play a samurai), Michael Ausiello from TV Guide reports that the actor has been promoted to series regular. The role was first announced to be a recurring one with a possibility to become a regular gig. The actor must have made quite an impression for producers to decide to promote him before seeing how fans will respond to both Anders and the character. Alias fans, and I’m one of them, will rejoice at the news of seeing Anders back on the screen in a regular capacity.Ausiello also reports that Deadwood’s Stephen Tobolowsky will guest star in six episodes. The gossip columnist has no information about his Tobolowsky’s role right now.”
One thing that you see quite often with a sucessful show are its cast begining to go out on there own and spread there wings, exactly what Zachary Quinto who plays Silar has done. As according to the New Zealand Herald he will be playing Mr. Spock in the upcoming Star Trek movie. Here is a snippet of the annoucement:
“Zachary Quinto, best known for playing the villainous Sylar in Heroes, will don a pair of pointy ears to play Mr. Spock in the newest installment of the Star Trek feature franchise — and he’ll be joined by Leonard Nimoy, reprising the role that he created.
J.J. Abrams, who is directing the 11th Star Trek film, currently untitled, revealed the casting at the San Diego Comic-Con International confab. The actors joined Abrams onstage as he made the announcement.
Plot details were not revealed about the Paramount Pictures film, though it is believed to revolve around the first encounters between a young Spock and Capt. James T. Kirk at Starfleet Academy.”

Today Ubi Soft and NBC Universal have officially announced that they are in conjunction with developing a video game on the NBC TV Show, Heroes. Here is what the press release had to add to this announcement:
Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group to develop and publish a video game based on the television drama series “Heroes.”
The first season of Tim Kring’s hit TV series has attracted over 14 million viewers each week and is one of the most popular shows among 18-49 year-olds. Time magazine named “Heroes” one of the Top 10 TV shows for 2006, and the phenomenon is now broadcast in more than 30 countries across the globe.
“Heroes” is an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people across the world who discover they possess extraordinary abilities, such as telepathy, time travel and flight. They will soon come to realize that the fate of the world depends on them, and be forced to team up against someone seeking to eliminate them.
“With a gripping storyline and rich characters, Heroes lends itself naturally to a video game format,” said Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft. “By offering people the chance to interact directly with the show’s captivating universe, there is no doubt that the game will appeal to both fans of the series and avid gamers.”
“We are very excited to be making the ‘Heroes’ video game with Ubisoft,” said Tim Kring, executive producer and creator of “Heroes.” “Time and again, Ubisoft has proven they can turn licensed properties into fantastic games.”
TV Shows very rarley become video games, and the few times they do they seem to be extremely simple arcade games. However according to Kotaku, Ubi Soft is set to announce that they are in the process of making a game based of the NBC hit TV Show, Heroes. Here is what Kotaku had to say:
“Variety says that Ubi is also closing a deal to make a game based on Heroes with plans to announce details at this week’s Comic-Con.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter there has been another cast addition to the hit TV Show Heroes which adds Dana Davis to the cast. Here is what Hollywood Reporter has to say:
“Dana Davis has joined NBC’s hit sci-fi drama “Heroes” as a regular, playing a new young hero.
Her powers are being kept under wraps, but it is understood that Davis’ character, Monica, would give up everything to help the people around her.
On “Heroes,” Davis joins another new regular, Dania Ramirez, who plays another beautiful young hero named Maya, as well as new recurring characters played by Nick D’Agosto, Barry Shabaka Henley, Holt McCallany, David Anders, Eriko Tamura, Lyndsy Fonseca and Dianna Agron.”

I don’t think it is much of a surprise to find out that Heroes is up for an Emmy, the first season was an extremely big sucess and in general the show has been creating even a lot of buzz with critics. The problem for Heroes is that it is going into a pretty tough category where it would be not a huge suprise but a surprise in general if it did pull out the win.

I love that the cast of Heroes continues to give us small snippets of information little by little on what is going to happen in Season 2 of Heroes. Masi Oka who plays Hiro on the show Heroes has sat down with SciFi.com and given some insight into the next season and a lot of what he said is really engaging.
“Season two is going to begin with two parallel timelines going on,” Oka said in an interview at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., on July 17. “One starting four months after the explosion and another—mainly Hiro’s storyline—starting 400 years in the past. And we’ll see how they kind of affect each other.”
At the end of the hit show’s first season, Oka’s character found himself transported back in time to 16th-century Japan. According to Oka, Hiro will spend at least eight episodes there before returning to the present. There, he will encounter some of the characters from the stories of his childhood, including the legendary samurai Takezo Kensei, who will be played by David Anders (Sark from ABC’s Alias). The show is currently finishing the third episode of the upcoming season.
“There’s a princess,” Oka said. “Princess Iako, played by [Japanese pop star] Eriko Tamura, who’s going to be in that world, as well as David Anders, who plays Takezo Kensei. That was Hiro’s childhood hero that he’s always heard about these stories. But David Anders, last time we checked, he was Caucasian. So there’s a mystery there.”
