Abdul Sattar Edhi founded the Edhi International Foundation with a simple purpose: he wanted to have a private organization that funded relief efforts to Pakistan and Bangladesh. These 2 nations are amongst the poorest of the world. Unfortunately, these two are also among those who are always stricken with natural calamities and disasters.

Edhi’s foundation tries to address all these problems. They also give medical assistance when disasters strike.

Edhi’s foundation also gets involved in family matters. They set up baby cradles so unwanted babies can be left safely. They also have foundation homes for the poor and the mentally ill.

Abdul has gained a Balzan peace Award for his efforts. He has also spoken to many of the world’s richest nations about human rights and poverty.
