CRAIG KIELBURGER read a newspaper article when he was 12 that would change his life. A Pakistani Boy was murdered because he brought attention to the terrible working conditions that kids were forced to endure in Pakistan.

Craig became so passionate about the subject that his parents gave him permission to go to South Africa, to witness child labor atrocities. He saw first hand the horrible conditions. He wrote about what he saw in his book, Free the Children.

When he got home, He and a group of his friends started the group Kids Can Help Free The Children. They establish friendship schools between developing countries and first world countries. These schools work hand in hand to find solutions for common problems, and donate supplies to the less fortunate school.

Today Free the Children has grown with over 100,000 volunteers. They fight child labor, poverty and war, and fight for children’s rights.
