Heroes has done this before, we take a retrospective look at what has happened in the past. So today’s episode is one of those where we look back (like the title admits) at how things got the way there are in this season.

Peter
At the begining of this episode we get to see what happened to Peter and Nathan when they flew off to save the world. It is interesting to see Nathan let Peter go, which tells me why it hurts him so bad. We see Nathan taken to the hospital, and Peter taken out by Elle (Kristen Belle). Peter is taken to the company, his abilities are dampened by some medication, and sent into a room. Peter learns rather quickly that he is being held captive, and that he is not being helped by staying there, so he begins to get his powers back. Coming towards the end of the episode we see how Peter got into the big storage bin, the Haitian who was once helped by Peter’s mom, puts him in there and tells him that he wants him to have a new and better life.

Maya & Alejandro
I have not been a big fan of the Maya & Alejandro storyline but we get to see Alejandro and Maya four months prior, at Alejandro’s wedding. Maya witnesses Alejandro’s new wife cheating already and she cry’s the black tears and kills everyone but her brother. We find out that Maya and Alejandro have only known about how to control Maya’s abilties for a month.

DL
We see DL in the hospital room, and it seems like everything is going well. Bob shows up in the hospital to confront Nikki about joining the company. To see DL alive is a very neat part of hte show, I know there are a lot of us who were excited to see him in this episode. DL comes to get Nikki (whose new alter ego came out) and was at an LA Night Club where DL is shot and killed.

Adam
We find that in the months before the second season, that Adam is in the cell next to Peter, and the two converse, it is really the only communication Peter has with the outside world while in the facility. It is interesting to see Adam in the present day setting, his character is obviously going to be a big part of the show. We find out that Adam’s blood heals people, and that is how Nathan was healed.

Overall Thoughts
This is one of those episodes that just leads up to what is to come. It answers a lot of questions that we had about how we got to this place in the first place. It wasn’t as engaging as last week’s episode, but it is setting up for the next three episodes in a big way.
