Alice Nelson and her group have a single goal. That is to bring laughter and smiles back into impoverished children’s lives.

She travels with others to poor African towns and they dress up as clowns for their thriving organization, Clowns Without Borders.

Clowns without Borders was founded in 1993. They travel to the world’s most troubled and sad spots to perform for kids who are probably too busy looking for food to worry about having fun.

Alice says the feeling of seeing 1200 kids laughing is a great one. She and her group spent months in South Africa and Lesotho. They performed for schools, community ceners and orphanages.

Although many doubt if the group is indeed making a difference, Alice is confident that they are. It is a simple act, but a smile can be the most valuable thing to a troubled soul.
