a blog about everyday heroes from around the world
Fred Bryant form Waxahachie, Texas, was driving with his family on Interstate 35. All of a sudden he noticed that a car and an 18-wheeler had collided.
The car was in flames. Fred got down from his car and sprinted towards the burning vehicle.
He scanned the car for survivors. He heard a very faint cry. He saw that the only survivor in the crash was a child in the back seat. When Fred started thinking of rescuing the child another danger struck. A gas tank kept in the truck caught fire and started hissing. For a split second Fred thought of running to safety. But he overcame his fear and bravely stepped into the car. He rescued Daniel, a one year old, from the car and stepped out just in time. Within seconds the gas tank exploded. With this act of bravery Fred Bryant had saved the life of a child and was the Hero of the Day.
