a blog about everyday heroes from around the world
Today Ubi Soft and NBC Universal have officially announced that they are in conjunction with developing a video game on the NBC TV Show, Heroes. Here is what the press release had to add to this announcement:
Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group to develop and publish a video game based on the television drama series “Heroes.”
The first season of Tim Kring’s hit TV series has attracted over 14 million viewers each week and is one of the most popular shows among 18-49 year-olds. Time magazine named “Heroes” one of the Top 10 TV shows for 2006, and the phenomenon is now broadcast in more than 30 countries across the globe.
“Heroes” is an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people across the world who discover they possess extraordinary abilities, such as telepathy, time travel and flight. They will soon come to realize that the fate of the world depends on them, and be forced to team up against someone seeking to eliminate them.
“With a gripping storyline and rich characters, Heroes lends itself naturally to a video game format,” said Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft. “By offering people the chance to interact directly with the show’s captivating universe, there is no doubt that the game will appeal to both fans of the series and avid gamers.”
“We are very excited to be making the ‘Heroes’ video game with Ubisoft,” said Tim Kring, executive producer and creator of “Heroes.” “Time and again, Ubisoft has proven they can turn licensed properties into fantastic games.”
TV Shows very rarley become video games, and the few times they do they seem to be extremely simple arcade games. However according to Kotaku, Ubi Soft is set to announce that they are in the process of making a game based of the NBC hit TV Show, Heroes. Here is what Kotaku had to say:
“Variety says that Ubi is also closing a deal to make a game based on Heroes with plans to announce details at this week’s Comic-Con.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter there has been another cast addition to the hit TV Show Heroes which adds Dana Davis to the cast. Here is what Hollywood Reporter has to say:
“Dana Davis has joined NBC’s hit sci-fi drama “Heroes” as a regular, playing a new young hero.
Her powers are being kept under wraps, but it is understood that Davis’ character, Monica, would give up everything to help the people around her.
On “Heroes,” Davis joins another new regular, Dania Ramirez, who plays another beautiful young hero named Maya, as well as new recurring characters played by Nick D’Agosto, Barry Shabaka Henley, Holt McCallany, David Anders, Eriko Tamura, Lyndsy Fonseca and Dianna Agron.”

I don’t think it is much of a surprise to find out that Heroes is up for an Emmy, the first season was an extremely big sucess and in general the show has been creating even a lot of buzz with critics. The problem for Heroes is that it is going into a pretty tough category where it would be not a huge suprise but a surprise in general if it did pull out the win.

I should also point out that Masi Oka (Hiro) is up for best supporting actor in a drama series:

After one of the most impressive first seasons by a new TV series, the guys and gals over at NBC have officially announced the premiere dates for all new and returning shows. Although we have had a good idea of when the premiere was going to be for Heroes it has now been officially slated for September 24th, 2007 at 9pm following the Season Premiere of the new show Chuck. The big question for Heroes is can they possibly live up to the huge fan base that is now attached to the show waiting for what could possibly come next. Could anything really top “Save the Cheerleader, Save the World”? That remains to be seen!

In a very interesting survey that TV Week puts together a few times a year, they ask critics to name the top ten best and worst shows currently on Television. Well with both online and print mediums being asked, Heroes was among the top ten best shows on Television according to the survey, and in fact was #6. Heroes is among many other great shows, and although the survey seems a bit off in some areas, still great to continue hearing the positie praise for the smash hit Heroes.

Last Fall we had the induction of just a ton of new drama’s, mostly because that is what people were watching. Unfortunately a good number of the new shows last year failed, and shows like Heroes which were new and fresh triumphed. Well according to a new article over at InsidertheBayArea.com they have been discussing the upcoming Fall season and they had this to say, “Due to the huge success of “Heroes,” there are a lot of fantasy series this fall. We’ve got vampires seeking redemption, time traveling reports, genetically enhanced super women, grim reapers and other supernatural souls.”
They always say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, so Heroes fans rejoice that your show is now leading the pack as to what is is to come to TV this Fall!
Its not a big surprise, however its good news for all of us who are fans of Heroes, as it has made the top ten finalist for the upcoming Emmy’s for Drama Series. I am really loving how much love the show is getting, and it should have a godo chance at the upcoming Emmy’s.

Hot off her stint as Heroes “illusionist” Candice, Missy Peregrym has joined The CW’s upcoming (and thus far well-received) series Reaper, replacing Nikki Reed as the pretty coworker of Bret Harrison’s bounty hunter for the devil.
