Blake Mycosie gained popularity when he almost won the amazing race. Now, he is doing something far bigger than the amazing race.
Blake, after losing the race, decided to go to Argentina. There, he saw that many children went without any shoes. He then thought to start his own shoe company, and for every pair sold, he would donate a pair to a child in need.
Blake named his company TOMS: Shoes for Tomorrow. Currently, he has sold thousands of pairs, allowing for thousands of kids in Argentina to have shoes of their own, as well.
Blake plans to give shoes to kids in Africa and Asia next. His shoes give kids a brighter tomorrow.
S.A.D Horse Rescue prides itself for being a unique horse rescue institution. It focuses on saving draft horses. S.A.D feels that it is these gentle animals that are usually forgotten and neglected. S.A.D wants to prevent this from happening. They nurse the horses back to health and give them proper nutrition. S.A.D gives these horses lots of love that they deserve.
S.A.D. was started by Angela and Henry, a couple based in Ontario. Founded in 2004, it has since rescued about a hundred horses. The couple is dedicated to give these horses much love and care.
It only took an anguished phone call from a friend for Ann Armstrong Dailey to spring into action. Her friend’s child had been suffering from cancer and the cancer had advanced too much for it to be treated. The boy now required round the clock care but they couldn’t find a hospice hospital for children.
Ann, right then, decided that it was up to her to make sure that hospice care would be available for kids who needed them. This was the start of Children’s Hospice International.
It has been 20 years since then. CHI has been a vital force for setting up hospice are models around the US. They continue to provide technical assistance and implementation materials for various hospice programs in 47 other countries as well.

Andrea Coleman has always had a passion for bikes. But instead of being a hellraiser, she has chosen to do something productive with it instead. Andrea started Riders for Health, a charity that delivers health goods to the rural parts of Africa. They’ve managed to employ about 136 riders from Zimbabwe to deliver medicine and other supplies to different parts. The charity is funded mostly by bike enthusiasts.
Andrea was born just a little outside the UK. She had little interest in school but veered more towards bikes, the Chelsea football club and making money.
As a grown up, Andrea helped in raising money for the Chelsea football club. What she earned would then go towards her weekend bike trips. When one of her bosses took her to Somalia once, courtesy of Save the Children, Andrea realized her true calling.
Her trip allowed her to see the dire conditions in Africa. Women were being wheeled to hospitals in wheelbarrows, small roads, an absence of healthcare workers because they couldn’t be transported, and a graveyard of old and used motorcycles as nobody knew how to use them and repair them.
In 1990, she and her husband set up Riders for Health. They managed to call on famous riders t dedicate a day of their time to help raise awareness to the cause.
Andrea hopes that with her efforts, as well as that of other motorcycle enthusiasts and social entrepreneurs, they will be able to help to alleviate the health problem in Africa.
