Linda and Millard Fuller are the creators of Habitat for Humanity. Because of their efforts, the organization has built over 70,000 homes around the world.

They sold all their belongings to start the organization. They just wanted something where everyone, regardless of religion could come together and help other people. That’s how Habitat of Humanity was born.

Heroic Hospital Visitors

Mary Lou Naso and and her dog Harry, do little acts of kindness that make them heroes in their community. They see to it that they visit the local hospital, and give a bit of cheer to the sick and dying.

Harry, a black Lab, has become famous for his comical magician tricks. He really takes after his name, Harry Houdini. Harry, along with Mary Lou perform magic tricks for the sick patients of Cleveland Children’s hospital. Harry sometimes even plays catch with the more able bodied patients.

Their goal is simple, to bring a bit of smiles and happiness to places where there seldom are any. The children are all very find of Harry and are so grateful for his visits. They love how this furry magician, together with Mary Lou brighten up their lives.

Binti Jua: The Local Zoo Hero

In the Brokerfield Zoo in Chicago, they have for themselves a local hero. She isn’t human but a female gorilla named Binti Jua.

One day, a 3 year old child climbed a railing and fell 18 ft. into the zoo’s exhibit. Zoo officials hurriedly responded but it was Binti who got to the boy first and carried him to where humans could attend to him. Throughout the whole incident, she kept her own baby Koola clutched onto her back.

The little boy spent 4 days in the hospital  and was released. Because of Binti Jua’s quick thinking and gentleness, the little boy is fine.
