Born in 1996, Alexander Scott had cancer all her life. At the age of one, she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma.

This didn’t stop her though. Alex was determined to fight her cancer. When she was four, she opened her own lemonade stand with the intent of donating the proceeds to cancer patients. At the end of the year, she managed to make $2000. Other people had heard about her efforts and had started to donate, or put up other lemonade stand across the country. All in all, Alexandra managed to raise around $900,000 to fight Pediatric cancer.

Today, there are over 200 stands still standing all over the country, helping to get money for pediatric cancer patients.

A group of students from the Westfield State were expecting a fun spring break trip in Acapulco.

Billeted at the Best Western Playa Suites, their vacation was cut short when a fire started at the hotel’s laundry room.

When the fire broke out, 3 students namely Daniel Moreno, Drew Nalewanski and Brian Stanley quickly went from room to room on all floors, alerting everyone of the fire, as the fire alarm system  did not seem to be working.

Their efforts saved so many others from being trapped and injured by the fire.
