May 7, 2008 Author: sambriones | Filed under: Other

Nick Harvey went out of his way and beyond the call of duty when he offered his services when a flood occurred last July 21 to 24.

He worked to assist stranded motorists and families.
He also managed to rescue 2 teenagers whose boat had capsized. He helped them out of the water and continued to keep them warm. He then took them back to safety, to where an ambulance was waiting to take him to the hospital.

Nick Harvey is only 21, and yet showed character well beyond his years.

Because Calista is too young to be a volunteer at 7, she decided to help out in some other way. She decided to make crafts and sell them, with the proceeds helping people to get to the special Olympics.

Her goal is to reach $3000, and she is well on her way. Calista  does other things she can to help in the Olympics, she sometimes keeps score, times the track and field events or simly cheers on the athletes. She is an inspiration to everyone around her!

When an ex-boyfriend wouldn’t stop harassing Seliethia Parker, she thought things couldn’t get any worse. But they did.

One night, the boyfriend tracked them down and was ready to shoot Selilia from her SUV. As he was about to fire, her daughter, Alexis lunged from the back of the SUV and threw herself in front of her mom. She took six of the bullets instead. Only two of the bullets ended up hitting Selilia.

Selilia Parker was in critical condition, but was recently released from the hospital. Alex, as of press time, had already undergone 3 operations but was still recovering in the Michigan hospital.

The gunman has been convicted and sent to prison.

Alex’s mom is very thankful for her daughter’s brave act. She knows they both wouldn’t be here today if Alex had not saved her.

Kid Hero Saves Asthmatic Teacher

May 6, 2008 Author: sambriones | Filed under: Uncategorized

Madonna Kenser, was normally teaching her class when she suddenly got an asthma attack. She didn’t know it but she was allergic to the fumes of her dry eraser pen. Her throat started to close up and she passed out.

One of her students, Brendon, came to her rescue. He ran over to her, gave her the inhaler that he had found and made her breathe into it. This act saved her life. Brendon said he knew what to do because he saw it in the movie, Are We There Yet.

What makes parents and teacher more proud of Brendon is that he has autism.

It just goes to show that anyone, regardless of age or mental condition can be a hero!
