4 Brave Policemen were on honored on January 12, 2007 for their acts of bravery.

Inspectors Sammy de Ridder, Jaco Herbst, Nico Ackerman and Barries Barnard put their lives on the line for their community, as well as to save a colleague.

The 4’s combined efforts saved a colleague from almost drowning, and recovered a body that had gone missing, and giving the grieving family much needed closure.

John Kirkpatrick, more popularly known as Jack Kirkpatrick was a stretcher bearer for the Aussie and NZ Army Corps at Gallipoli during WWI.

He was famous because as soon as he landed at Anzac Cove, he immediately started taking the wounded from the battlefield and carrying them into the beaches for safety. He did this with the help of a donkey.

Jack continued this work for 3 more weeks, usually under fire, until he was killed.

Three men in Australia, who risked their lives in order to save a family from their burning home are being nominated for the Bravery Awards

These men were driving past when they saw the burning house and heard the cries of help!

Without further thought, the 3 quickly entered the house and took out a 50 year old man, his wife and their 3 kids.

The man and his wife are both hearing impaired.

Brendan Johnston, Nick Tzevakos were 2 of the 3 rescuers.

Jodi Longmeyer, a resource manager for the Von Maur Department Store never saw herself as becoming a hero.

Bit one fateful day, she did become one! While she was in the customer service part of the store, she heard the sound of gunfire and a cry for help.

Her first instinct was not to run away! Instead, she had this urge to help the voice she heard!

A man suddenly came out from the elevator and started shooting. Through the bullet fire, Jodi managed to stay calm and contacted the police. Later, she also helped identify the shooter!

Despite the demise of some coworkers, friends and customers, Jodi is still every inch a hero for calling and preventing more people from getting hurt and killed!
